MWTTT Seeks Fort Riley Representative! - Tuesday, June 10, 2008
Mountain West Troops to Teachers is currently accepting applications for the Fort Riley Representative position.

Duties:
Attend events at Fort Riley to promote Troops to Teachers and Spouses to Teachers including job fairs, career fairs, education fairs and other events as assigned
Assist in scheduling, marketing and executing Troops to Teachers and Spouses to Teachers seminars at Fort Riley
Post flyers throughout Fort Riley and distribute brochures/marketing materials as instructed
Coordinate with ACAP, Education Center and ACS
Collect datasheets and submit to regional office as instructed
Send written reports on activities to regional office as instructed

Pay/Hours:
The Fort Riley Representative will be hired as an independent contractor with the Mountain West Troops to Teachers office in Colorado Springs, Colorado
Schedule will vary depending on events and activities assigned
$15 per hour
Reimbursement for approved travel outside of the Fort Riley area
No benefits

Fort Hays State University - Affordable Success! - Friday, May 23, 2008
Fort Hays State University (FHSU) is located in Hays, Kansas and offers a variety of teacher licensure programs.  Students can study online or on campus.  FHSU offers undergraduate, graduate and alternative licensure programs.

FHSU has formed a strong partnership with Mountain West Troops to Teachers and is extremely supportive of Troops to Teachers and Spouses to Teachers participants.  For additional information please contact Kerry Schuckman at kschuckm@fhsu.edu.  

TEACH grant provides $4,000 in financial assistance - Friday, May 23, 2008
The TEACH grant is a federal program that provides up to $4,000 per year to students enrolled in a teacher licensure program.  To be eligible to receive a TEACH grant students must be earning a license in a high need subject area and agree to work in a low income school.  For more information on eligiblity requirements, subject areas, qualifying schools and application instructions please click here.  
Hire-in-Advance Program Offered in Colorado Springs! - Monday, February 04, 2008
Troops to Teachers has partnered with the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) and Colorado Springs’ school districts to offer an innovative Hire-in-Advance Program. Through this program candidates can apply and interview with the University of Colorado and gain acceptance into a UCCS licensing program up to two years in advance. Once accepted into UCCS, candidates are then eligible for employment with Colorado Springs District 11 and Falcon District 49. Both districts are interested in hiring military members with the expertise and leadership skills necessary to be successful in today’s classroom environment.

Through the Hire-in-Advance Program there is no need to delay your career goals until after you separate. All active duty, National Guard and reservists are eligible to apply to the University of Colorado as well as participating school districts up to two years in advance.

Applications are currently being accepted for school years 2008-2009, 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. The Hire-in-Advance program is only available to individuals interested in teaching math, science, special education or foreign language. Teach for Denver Public Schools! - Friday, January 25, 2008
Denver Teaching Fellows seeks outstanding professionals and recent graduates to make a difference in the lives of the students who need them the most.  Fellows will participate in an intensive summer Training Institute before entering their classrooms as teachers in fall 2008.  Fellows will pursue their teaching license while teaching full-time in some of Denver Public Schools' highest-need schools.

We are looking for outstanding candidates to teach math, science, special education, and bilingual Spanish (K-6).  A bachelor's degree is required, but no prior education coursework or experience is necessary.
