Clark County School District (CCSD) has the greatest need for teachers in Nevada and is the 5th largest district in the nation. Check out the CCSD website for information about job openings.

State Approved Training Pathways

The review of training providers (colleges, university, schools/districts) by the state authority to determine if the course work meets state standards and requirements. It many cases, this streamlines the request for a teaching credential if you complete a “state approved” training pathway.

This directory provides a listing of Nevada state approved programs for the preparation of professional educational personnel. This publication is intended to be a source of information regarding available educator preparation programs in Nevada institutions of higher education.�

Clark County School District continues to seek alternative ways to recruit, train, hire, and retain quality educators in areas where there are critical teaching shortages. The Alternative Routes to Licensure (ARL) Program offers unique opportunities for individuals with successful employment histories, and Bachelor's degrees in areas other than education, to enter the teaching profession.

Minimum requirements:

Reside in Clark County, Nevada �(If you are planning to move to Clark County within the next six months, you must provide a local address on the Interest Form.)
Bachelor’s degree, in a field outside the area of education, from an accredited college/university with a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher, as evidenced by submission of official, degree-posted transcripts.

Many universities offer online or distance learning teacher preparation programs. When considering online and distance learning programs, ask:

Does the program license teacher candidates in your state?
Is your state reciprocal with the program's state? Some online programs license you in one state, such as Arizona or Florida, and you will need to transfer that license back to the state in which you desire licensure or certification. This may require additional application or testing procedures.
Does the program offer financial aid for online courses? Federal financial aid (e.g., Stafford and Perkins loans) is only applicable to certain accredited online programs.
